Constructing an Eco Friendly Home

If you are interested in constructing an eco-friendly home, you have come to the right place. My name is Gerry and for the past year or so I have been learning all I can about how I can make the home I plan to build as green and as environmentally friendly as possible. I started out by contacting a local environmental green energy company. An agent from the company was able to give me some great advice which really helped me to understand the different options available to me. I hope you enjoy this blog and that it helps you to go green.

How restaurants can benefit from hiring skip bins

The hospitality industry is lucrative, but it also faces food wastage as one of its biggest challenges. Typically, restaurants deal with two main categories of waste: pre-consumer food waste and post-consumer food waste.

The former doesn't hurt your business as much since the customer has already paid for the food. However, pre-consumer waste will significantly affect your profit margins. There are several ways to reduce and manage wastage, one of which is to hire skip bins.

Here is how you do it.

Sort your waste

Once you hire a skip bin, you'll have it for a certain amount of time, and during this period, you will need to assess your food waste. If possible, sort your waste into several categories. In one bin, you'll place food preparation waste. In the second bin, place food that went bad while in storage. If you have another bin, you can place your post-consumer waste in it.

Ensure that your staff understands how to sort the waste. You'll be able to see how much food or ingredients are wasted, especially in the preparation stage. This will help them understand that their mistakes are costly and hurting the restaurant.

Weigh each rubbish bin before it's emptied into the skip bin and record the data. At the end of the week, you can calculate your restaurant's pre-consumer waste. With this, you can tweak your food purchase to reduce your pre-consumer waste.

Save time and resources

Typically, restaurants produce a lot of waste, and after several days, this will accumulate. As the restaurant owner or manager, you'll have to figure out how and when to dispose of the waste. If waste accumulates for too long, it can become a health hazard.

This is why hiring skip bins is a good idea. You see, with skip bins, you can choose a schedule depending on how much waste you produce. The suppliers will handle everything, including logistics and waste disposal.

Keep your restaurant clean

In the hospitality industry, uncleanliness is not an option. Customers come to your restaurants for the food, but what keeps them coming is the food, services, prices, and cleanliness. Your clients want to feel safe while in your establishment, and the first thing they'll notice is likely the cleanliness. If the establishment looks cluttered and has a foul smell coming from the back, they'll opt to try another restaurant.

With this in mind, hire a skip bin for waste disposal and ensure that your restaurant is clean and tidy. First impressions make lasting impressions.
